Why we exist

After two decades in manufacturing, heavy industry, and consulting, I’ve seen both the positive and negative sides of standards and practices. When embedded well, they unlock safety, trust, and performance. When neglected or poorly sustained, the costs are staggering—lives lost, adverse impacts to communities and the environment, and billions in lost productivity.

Time and again, I saw the same challenge: organizations set standards with the best intentions, but the process of implementing and sustaining them was broken. The result was always the same—more risk, more bureaucracy, frustrated teams with a divide between those setting the standards and those accountable for following them, and significant time and money wasted reacting through project teams, auditors, and consultants.

I founded Method8 to address this systemic failure. By combining formative assessment, intuitive software, and AI-driven insight, we’ve created a way for teams to learn, identify gaps, and continuously improve against standards or benchmarks. No more waiting for the next incident, audit, or consultant’s report—gaps can be uncovered, action taken, and progress sustained, all integrated into existing risk, learning, and operations systems.

The problem we seek to solve

Unmet standards put us  all at risk.

Whether it’s an organization not meeting its external commitments or regulations, an operation not following safety protocols, or a team not achieving best practice—The world is awash in unmet standards. Humanity is worse off because of this—with higher risk to our society, our environment and lower global productivity.

Our approach and platform provides a much more effective way to implement and sustainably achieve standards and practices. Teams build capability, feel empowered and own their actions and outcomes. Management are provided with significantly improved measures (capability, compliance, maturity) and insight (gaps, actions and blockers) specific to the standards that protect and drive performance across their organization. All of this leads to better insight, better decisions and improved outcomes.

Our approach is also more efficient. By empowering teams to learn and self-assess we reduce an organizations need for consulting and auditors to help them identify and close gaps. We estimate our approach is 50-90% lower cost than consultant or auditor led approaches—with better outcomes.
